Busy, Busy, Busy…

Well, this is my very first Blog. I always thought a blog was a spilt over bottle of ink. There might be some comparison’s here. (:}.

Lately, I have been shooting video for the Fayette Care Clinic. A non-profit clinic for medical & dental care for those that are with out medical & dental insurance and fall below a certain financial level. The hope is, that this video will encourage future sponsorship at a fund raiser at Glendalough Manor on March 1st. The priveledge to volunteer my services for a wonderful organization that helps so many, will be rewarding. I’ve started the editing this week.

I’m presently editing Joey & Brittany’s Wedding and very close to being done. Ian & Suzzane are in the very near future to be edited full time. My time has also been involved with the Cohnen Family B’nai. Both daughter and son are having their Mitzvah in late march. I really enjoy the Mitzvah’s. Family’s celebrating a child turning into an adult with added responsiblities but still alowing them to be a child, is excting to be involved with.

Like Jan said, we had some terrific experiences in Orlando at the 4Ever Group 08 Seminar. The knowlege I brought back from some of the best in the industry has already influenced my editing and shooting styles. It has added excitement for me in editing video. The additional challenges of learning new tricks in this induistry can only make us all better. They really can teach an old dog new tricks. Bow Wow!

Important Meeting Today

I had a meeting with a publisher of a local publication today.  It seems we are going to be partnering with them to create some programming for them and streaming it to the internet.  What a wonderful opportunity to develop content for the internet.  I wont disclose exactly what those programs are but it is really a great idea and hopefully it will lead to others and be profitable for all. What we've been doing

Our corporate business doesn’t have a season, but the bridal part seems to.  Our bridal season is about to get under way. We have a few bridal shows to go to and then we are on our way to 2008! Rob, John and I all went to Orlando for the 4Ever Groups annual event where the best in our field are teaching tips and techniques. We also heard about the latest things going on across the country in the field and saw the latest equipment. There was Jason Maquawa from the Phillipines who finally got his visa a few days before the conference began and he was added to the program at 9:30 at night and the place was packed. He was absolutely wonderful. He created a short video that he shot using his cell phone! Not that you would WANT to shoot it that way, but it showed his talent.  There were so many people there that were inspiring and to see the way the award winners edit certainly gives you ideas of how to do some new and interesting things.

It was very encouraging to see how many people there are from all over that care about their craft like we do. The thing that was great for me personally was how many women were there!  My favorite instructor is a brilliant woman from Maryland (yea you Luisa). She is an instructor in all things Adobe and is really loved by so many people.  She has helped me in so many ways that I really could never thank her enough! My roommate was a girl from New Jersey who works as hard as I do and it was great to talk shop to another woman! Love the guys, but its really nice when you find other women who love the same things you do and loves to talk about it!

So, now we are energized and ready to go!

Have a good day! Jan

First REAL post ;)

This video is a highlight version of Adrienne & Quincy’s wedding day. Just finished it and, well, I like it!

Well, I had intended to write on the blog often, but as usual, work has kept me busy. Not that I am complaining (the alternative to being busy is FAR worse) but there’s not been much time for anything but what I HAD to do.

Business has been really good during this otherwise down time for weddings.  Aside from the work with Comcast, there are a few other clients that have not only been profitable, but a pleasure to work with.  I went to an ABWA (American Business Women’s Association) meeting tonight. What a great bunch of women! The speaker was great and I met some other women in buisness in our area that are very serious about thier professions just like I am.  My goal for this year is to branch out into more diverse areas that will allow for more creativity.  I have met some very gifted people in my profession latley who also freelance. Its really been a great couple of months.  Tomorrow I am meeting with a lady who has a child with a disablity and she wants to create a video to help bring awareness to her child circumstances. Wow! What a great opportuinty to use what I do to help someone! Have a great day! Jan
